Darwin Day taking place today

The featured speaker, Dr. Barbara Forrest, former professor of philosophy at Southeastern Louisiana State University, will present “Why Academic Freedom is a Fraud: The Threat to Science Education.”

Forrest’s presentation will discuss the potential conflict in the science classroom between faith-based explanations of life’s origin and scientific truths.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Stephen Mullin, chair of SFA's Department of Biology, at (936) 468-3601 or sjmullin@sfasu.edu.

The Ice Music Festival in Finse, Norway, looks like a scene from Disney’s “Frozen.”

During this annual event, people make music using instruments constructed from ice. This year, ice carvers are using water from Lake Finse and a glacier to create keyboards, drums, guitars and more.
