TexFlex flexible spending accounts allow you to set aside money from your paycheck, pre-tax, to pay for eligible health and dependent care and commuting expenses, which reduces your taxable income. Those who have not signed up for TexFlex will be able to next year during the open summer enrollment.
The deadline to submit TexFlex claims for plan year 2017 is fast approaching for employees with a current TexFlex account.
To avoid losing money, submit your health and dependent care claims for plan year 2017 (Sept. 1, 2016, through Aug. 31, 2017) by Dec. 31. Mailed claims must be postmarked by Dec. 30.
Dependent care claims can include eligible expenses paid until Nov. 15, 2017. If you leave any funds in your dependent care FSA, you will lose that money. None of the remaining balance rolls over into a new 2018 account. However, up to $500 left in your health care FSA will transfer to a 2018 TexFlex account.
If you have TexFlex questions or need account balance information, log in to your account at TexFlexERS.com, or call TexFlex toll-free at (844) 884-2364 (TTYL711).
Representatives are available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday Central Standard Time, excluding holidays.
