Mishra recently attended the 47th annual meeting of the Decision Science Institute in Austin.
During the conference, participants attended various workshops related to the conference’s theme: Effective decision-making in uncertain business environments: Strategies, practices and techniques.
Mishra presented a paper titled “Strategic Capacity Planning: Evidence from U.S. manufacturing industries” with his co-author Dr. Randy Napier, clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas-Arlington.
The DSI is a professional organization of academicians and practitioners interested in the application of quantitative and behavioral methods to the problems of society. Through competitions, publications and conferences, DSI provides an international forum for presenting and sharing research in the study of decision processes across disciplines, according to the DSI website.

Faculty Senate to host financial forum tomorrow
SFA’s Faculty Senate will host a financial forum at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in Dugas Liberal Arts North, Room 142.
Dr. Danny Gallant, vice president for finance and administration, will provide a brief presentation focusing on the financial aspects of running the university including tuition revenue, state appropriations and how these funds are managed.
Dr. Steve Bullard, provost and vice president for academic affairs, also will be present to discuss the balance between academic affairs and finance and administration. The senate hopes this forum will inform faculty members about these processes and promote a spirit of transparency.

Fall Floral Design Exhibit to take place Thursday
A variety of floral designs created by floriculture students in SFA’s Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture will be on display in the Fall Floral Design Exhibit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Agriculture Building, Room 118.
The theme for the exhibit is "Fairy Tales."
SFA students to participate in ‘Chairished’ Blessings fundraiser
Students in SFA's School of Human Sciences are participating in the annual Chairished Blessings fundraiser, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 10, 2017, at the Nacogdoches County Civic Center.
This event will benefit Love In the Name of Christ, a nonprofit Christian organization in Nacogdoches dedicated to serving local citizens in need. Chairished Blessings will feature dinner, a silent auction and a design competition.
Tickets cost $35 per person, or $250 for a table of eight and $500 for a VIP table for eight with a server. For tickets or more information, contact Love INC at (936) 569-8555 or email@example.com. Seating is limited to 500 people.
Those interested in donating a chair to be auctioned off or in participating in the design competition should contact Sally Ann Swearingen, associate professor in SFA’s School of Human Sciences and event chair, at (936) 468-2048 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline to enter the design competition is Jan. 20, 2017.
SFA’s MLK Day of Service project deadline approaching
The deadline for SFA and Nacogdoches communities to submit community work projects for the seventh annual MLK Day of Service, organized through SFA’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, is Friday, Dec. 9.
Each year, hundreds of SFA students volunteer to give back to the local community and commemorate the life and work of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. Volunteer work projects include painting benches, creating art projects, revitalizing landscaping and assisting at nursing homes. Project request forms can be accessed here.
Texas Department of Transportation to host open house meeting tonight
The Texas Department of Transportation will host an open house meeting regarding the proposed bridge replacement project on E. Starr Avenue at Lanana Creek from 4 to 7 p.m. tonight in the Nacogdoches Independent School District boardroom, located at 420 S. Shawnee St.
The meeting is being held to show proposed improvements, explain where TxDOT is in the project development process, answer questions and gather input.

‘Healthy for the Holidays’ seminar to be offered tomorrow
Join Employee Wellness for “Healthy for the Holidays” at 5:15 p.m. tomorrow in the Student Recreation Center Meeting Room.
During this seminar, participants will learn tips about how to make healthy choices throughout the holiday season. The seminar will include tips from Jill Hamilton, SFA’s campus dietitian.

Latin Lumberjacks to perform outdoor holiday concert Thursday
SFA’s Latin Lumberjacks ensemble will perform an outdoor holiday concert from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in the plaza outside the Baker Pattillo Student Center on campus.
The Latin Lumberjacks comprises members of the Sound Recording Technology program within SFA's School of Music. Directed by Luigi Lazareno, adjunct faculty member in SFA's School of Music, the group will perform a variety of popular, salsa-style holiday songs.
