Dr. Tim Clipson

Professor in SFA’s Rusche College of Business

Clipson received the Meada Gibbs Outstanding Teacher-Scholar Award at the Association for Business Communication international meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The association is an international, interdisciplinary organization committed to advancing business communication, research, education and practice, according to the ABC website.

Clipson has been an ABC member since 1981.

Business leaders to speak at SFA Leadership Summit today

SFA’s Rusche College of Business will host the SFA Leadership Summit from 2 to 3:30 p.m. today in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Theater on campus.

The summit will feature a panel discussion with seven successful alumni about leadership principles and business and corporate issues. SFA alumnus Bob Slovak, sports anchor and reporter for KTRK-TV in Houston, will serve as moderator for the summit.

This free event is scheduled in conjunction with the Nelson Rusche Distinguished Lecture Series, which premieres at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the BPSC Grand Ballroom.

Jeb Bush to be featured as inaugural speaker for Nelson Rusche Distinguished Lecture Series tonight

SFA's Rusche College of Business will host its inaugural Nelson Rusche Distinguished Lecture Series at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom on campus. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will serve as guest speaker.

"We are so pleased to launch the Nelson Rusche Distinguished Lecture Series by featuring as our speaker such a notable and accomplished businessman and politician," said Dr. Tim Bisping, dean of SFA's Rusche College of Business.

SFA alumnus Bob Slovak, sports anchor and reporter for KTRK-TV in Houston, will serve as interviewer for the inaugural lecture series.

Through a question-and-answer format, Bush will discuss various topics focusing on leadership and business issues.

Time running out to vote for the Lumberjack in Mascot Challenge

Only days remain in the Southland Conference Mascot Challenge contest, and while the Lumberjack is still currently ranked first, he is still closely followed by the Sam Houston State University Bearkat and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Izzy the Islander.

Help SFA’s Spirit Program win its fourth consecutive Mascot Challenge title and a cash prize of $5,000 to be used toward the program. One vote can be submitted per day per email address. Click here to vote.

Ladyjacks' final homestand of season to take place tonight against University of New Orleans

With only two more chances to play in front of a home crowd this year, SFA’s volleyball team returns to Nacogdoches at 6:30 p.m. tonight in an attempt to start a new winning streak against the University of New Orleans in Shelton Gym.

Since Debbie Humphreys began her appointment as SFA volleyball head coach in 1988, she has frequently discovered how to motivate the team to play its best in late season. In November, the Ladyjacks have gone .500 or better in all but four of Humphreys’ 28-plus seasons as head coach.

Basketball season tickets available for pickup in Johnson Coliseum tomorrow night

SFA’s men’s and women's basketball season ticket holders for the 2016-17 season will be able to pick up their season tickets as early as 6 p.m. tomorrow at Johnson Coliseum prior to the start of the Lumberacks’ 6:30 p.m. exhibition contest against Huston-Tillotson University.

Season ticket holders will have until the start of the second half of the exhibition game against the Rams to pick up their season tickets in-person. Individuals who do not pick up their season tickets tomorrow will have their tickets mailed to them Monday, Nov. 7.

School of Theatre to present student-directed ‘Why Do We Laugh?’ tomorrow

SFA’s School of Theatre will present the student-directed, one-act play “Why Do We Laugh?” by Stephen Gregg at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Downstage Theatre on campus.

Directed by Houston junior Jason Trevino, “Why Do We Laugh?” is “an endearing one-act play about a lifelong love story and what it means to grow old together,” according to Trevino.

University to screen ‘Alive Inside’ documentary tomorrow

SFA's School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of “Alive Inside” at 7 p.m. tomorrow in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House downtown.

Written, produced and directed by Michael Rossato-Bennett, “Alive Inside” is a cinematic exploration of “music’s capacity to reawaken our souls and uncover the deepest parts of our humanity,” according to information at aliveinside.us.

Paddling down a body of water while being transported in a giant pumpkin is an interesting accomplishment in itself. Paddling more than 10 miles in said pumpkin? That’s not a paddling feat you hear about every day.
