Grant's article "The Arcadian Gardener" was recently published in Magnolia magazine. The article focuses on the botany, history and cultivation of the oxblood lily (Rhodophiala bifida) in the South for the Southern Garden History Society.

Henderson has been awarded the AARC Bravo Award by the SFA Academic Assistance and Resource Center. A longtime supporter of the center’s supplemental instruction program, Henderson is being recognized for his leadership and success in training math SI leaders and tutors after a significant change in curriculum a few years ago.

Submissions being accepted for Foreign Language Poetry Reading
Submissions are now being accepted for the second annual Foreign Language Poetry Reading hosted by SFA’s Department of Languages, Cultures and Communication. The event provides an evening of poetry from around the globe, including both original and classic works read by the SFA community.
The reading will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Cole Art Center @ the Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Barker helps SFA soccer team remain undefeated
SFA’s soccer team took on the Houston Baptist University Huskies Sunday afternoon to round out a long weekend on the road. With a 4-2 win over HBU, the Ladyjacks remain undefeated in conference play. Junior Hanna Barker led the team by scoring two goals within five minutes of the opening kick and a third goal after the start of the second half.
Sophomore Breanna Moore scored the fourth goal in the 26:20 minute mark, becoming her third goal of the season. Barker completed the afternoon with four shots, three of those on-goal. Senior Amanda Doyle and junior Madison Hall both earned three shots. Hall, Doyle and Barker each had an assist.
Men's and women's cross country teams place fourth in Oklahoma State University Jamboree
SFA’s men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled north for the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State University Saturday morning. SFA participated in the university division on both sides. The women competed against six other teams while the men were up against seven. OSU took first place with 24 team points on the men’s side, and Tulsa State University was awarded first for the women’s with a team score of 20 points.
Walker, Daron lead Ladyjack volleyball team to 3-0 victory over Sam Houston State University
SFA's volleyball team emerged as the victors in the volleyball edition of the Battle of the Piney Woods as they defeated Sam Houston State Universtiy, 3-0.
Fueled by a match-high 11 kills from Justice Walker, who hit a season-best .550, the Ladyjacks throttled the longtime Piney Woods rival in Shelton Gym Saturday afternoon.
Lumberjacks achieve third-straight win, hold off Abilene Christian University
SFA football senior quarterback Hunter Taylor threw a career-best 376 yards and four touchdowns Saturday, allowing the 'Jacks to race to a 38-7 lead on Abilene Christian University and hold off a late Wildcat rally to earn the 41-30 win. The ’Jacks picked up their third-straight win, improving to 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in Southland Conference play.
The victory marked the first time this season SFA out-gained the opponent, finishing with 513 yards of total offense compared to 466 for ACU.
Flute, piano recital canceled
A flute and piano recital featuring SFA music faculty members Christina Guenther and Ron Petti, originally scheduled for tomorrow night in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus, has been canceled.
If you’re a lover of words, you may cringe at the thought of old, tattered dictionaries being destructed. A company called PRRINT is working to prevent that, and is doing so by repurposing the pages in an educational, colorful way.
The Spanish-based company is preserving books by turning them into canvases for floral, anatomical illustrations. Click here to view more.
