Ajero gave two presentations at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in Lombard, Ill.: "Making Magical MIDI Accompaniments" and "Beyond the Piano Studio: Making Engaging Instructional Videos for Your Students". In addition to the two presentations, Ajero, along with other members of the NCKP Technology Committee, organized and worked in the conference's "Dream Studio/Geek Bar" where he answered technology-related questions for music educators and provided expert advice in incorporating effective ways of implementing technology into their teaching.
Dr. Nagalapura ViswanathSpeech-Language Pathology
Viswanath was instrumental in identifying 10 students in a nationwide search for recipients of the 2013 Students Preparing for Acadmic-Research Career Award while he served as a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Academic Affairs and Research Education team.

Call for Undergraduate Research Highlights
Submissions for the student-faculty collaborative "Undergraduate Research Highlights" feature of the Winter 2013 issue of the Council on Undergraduate Research Quarterly are being accepted until Sept. 15. Highlights consist of brief descriptions of peer-reviewed research or scholarly publications in scholarly journals from the past six months. These publications must be in print and must include one or more undergraduate co-authors. Read More
SFA Gardens Arcadian fall bulb bus tour
SFA Gardens will tour Greg Grant’s Emanis House dogtrot in Shelby County’s rural community of Arcadia on Sept. 14.
Depending on the weather, we may see red oxblood lilies (Rhodophiala), several different colors of spider lilies (Lycoris), or assorted rain lilies (Cooperia, Zephyranthes and Habranthus).

SFA Gardens lecture series to feature former director of botanical gardens
The SFA Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 in the Agriculture Building, Room 110. Paul Cox, former director of the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, will present “Lessons in Nature: Reflections on the Meaning of Life from a Plantsman’s Point of View.”
Cox is a consulting botanist and lecturer, drawing from three decades of southwestern botany. His experience began in the 1970s with research at the Heard Natural History Museum. By invitation, he served as Horticulturist for the City of San Antonio, then supervisor of the Botanical Gardens where he led the construction and development of this renowned garden. During the next 30 years, he served as interim director and assistant director, continuing his leadership and development of the garden's resources and programs.
The Theresa and Les Reeves Garden Lecture Series is usually held the third Thursday of each month at the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture’s SFA Mast Arboretum. A plant raffle will be held after the program. The lecture is free and open to the public, but donations to the Theresa and Les Reeves lecture series endowed fund are always appreciated.

Conscious Speaker Series: John Scalici
The Office of Multicultural Affairs will present world-renowned drum circle facilitator John Scalici: Drumming Up Diversity, the first speaker in their Conscious Speaker Series.
The event, a community celebration using drums and instruments from many cultures around the world will begin at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 27.
The interactive rhythm-based program will help participants express their uniqueness through rhythm while being united by one common purpose. No experience is necessary to participate, and all are welcome.

Little Kickers Soccer Camp
Registration is now open for SFA's Little Kickers Soccer Camp. Players ages 3 to 5 will learn soccer skills from 5:15 to 6 p.m. each Monday Sept. 9 through Oct. 14 at the SFA Soccer Field. To register, visit here or call (936) 468-1106.

Student Recreation Center Reduced Facility Hours
The Rec will have reduced hours Aug. 12-16 and will be closed Aug. 17-22 for staff training and maintenance. The Rec will have reduced hours on Friday, Aug. 23, and fall hours begin on Saturday, Aug. 24. Please see all of our facility hours on the website here.
