|  Wear purple tomorrow to support Generation Texas Decision Day 2017GenTx organizers at SFA are hoping to make Spirit Friday extra spirited this week in celebration of Generation Texas Day tomorrow.
Faculty and staff members are encouraged to wear purple to show support of the day, which is a culmination of efforts across the state to support all students, especially high school seniors, in getting to and through college.
|  SFA Gardens to serve as event partner for Texas Pollinator PowWowExperts from across the U.S. will converge tomorrow through Sunday, May 7, at the Nacogdoches Exposition Center, located at 3805 Northwest Stallings Drive, as SFA Gardens welcomes the 2017 Texas Pollinator PowWow.
This year’s event will focus on biodiversity and the many ways pollinators, plants and humans depend on one another for survival.

Read More |  Spring floral design exhibition on display todayA variety of floral designs created by floriculture students in SFA’s Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in the Agriculture Building, Room 118.
The theme for the exhibition is "Movies."
| Attend a success coach interest meeting todaySFA’s Student Success Center provides success coaching to Generation Jacks students, which is a program designed to assist first-generation students during their transition to and through SFA.
The program seeks faculty and staff members who exude the ability to connect, engage and assist students through various facets of university life. Success coaches are required to meet with first-generation students twice a month during an academic year.
The SSC will host two interest meetings this week for those who are considering becoming a success coach. The first will be at 4 p.m. today, and the second will be at noon tomorrow both in Dugas Liberal Arts North, Room 208. SSC staff members will provide additional information about the opportunity and answer questions.

|  Exhibition highlighting role of pollinators worldwide opens todayThe exhibition “Pollinators of the World” will show today through Saturday, May 20, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.
“Pollinators of the World” is curated by Charles Jones, director of the SFA LaNana Creek Press, and Dr. David Kulhavy, Lawrence C. Walker Distinguished Professor in SFA's Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture.
Artists and student-artists of all levels were invited to create works on paper that reflected important pollinators from their area of the world. Among the submissions to the exhibition are images of bees, bats, birds, moths, butterflies, flies, beetles, lemurs, bush babies and geckos.

SFA honors its own at Champions DinnerClosing out another successful year, SFA’s Department of Athletics honored its own at the 2016-17 Champions Dinner Wednesday in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom on campus.
The annual dinner is held near the end of each spring semester and recognizes the athletic achievements of SFA student-athletes. Read More | Fine Arts | Latin Lumberjacks to present outdoor Cinco de Mayo concert todayThe Latin Lumberjacks ensemble at SFA will present a Cinco de Mayo concert from noon to 1 p.m. today in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Plaza on campus.
Latin Lumberjacks comprises members of the sound recording technology program within SFA's School of Music. Directed by Luigi Lazareno, adjunct faculty member in SFA's School of Music, the group will perform a variety of classical and popular songs in salsa style.

Read More |  Stone Fort Museum to host second pop-up event tomorrowThe Stone Fort Museum will host a pop-up concert featuring SFA's Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble from 1 to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Stone Fort Museum on campus.
The concert is the second in a series of pop-up events and part of the Stone Fort Museum’s Inside-Out project, an outreach program designed to pique interest in the museum’s exhibits and encourage students and community members to come inside.

“If You Build It” follows designer-activists Emily Pilloton and Matthew Miller to rural Bertie County, the poorest county in North Carolina, where they work with local high school students to help transform both their community and their lives.

Read More |  Masterwork performance to feature Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’ tomorrowThe combined choirs at SFA, along with the Orchestra of the Pines and faculty soloists, will present Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio “Elijah” at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in Turner Auditorium on campus.
The oratorio depicts events in the life of the biblical prophet Elijah, taken from the books 1 Kings and 2 Kings of the Old Testament.

The concert was originally scheduled for 3 to 5 p.m. tomorrow in the plaza outside the Baker Pattillo Student Center on campus.
