Flags to be flown at half-staff Friday, May 15, and Monday, May 25
In honor of Peace Officer Memorial Day on Friday, May 15, SFA will lower the U.S. and Texas flags on campus to half-staff. The flags will return to full-staff on Saturday, May 16. The day is dedicated to federal, state and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. It is observed in conjunction with Police Week.
Flags will be lowered to half-staff again on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
Bright Ideas Conference presentations now available online
Many of the posters from SFA's 2015 Bright Ideas Conference can now be viewed in ScholarWorks. If you wish to include your poster from the 2015 conference, please contact the Center for Digital Scholarship at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SFA Today to publish weekly
SFA Today will begin publishing a single weekly issue next week after the end of the academic semester.
The weekly issue will be published on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Regular daily publication will resume at the beginning of the fall semester.
TRS benefits presentation set for today
The Teachers Retirement System will be hosting a TRS Group Benefits Presentation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Regents Suite A.
Log in to the MyTRS website to register. If you are not a current user of MyTRS, visit the TRS website to register and receive immediate access to all the tools.
If you have questions about your TRS Retirement Benefits, make plans to attend the presentation.

Family Fun Night scheduled for Friday

In light of graduation, SFA's Campus Recreation office will observe reduced hours this weekend. The facility will be open at the following times:
6 a.m. - 10 p.m., Friday, May 15.
Noon - 5 p.m., Saturday, May 16.
Noon - 5 p.m., Sunday, May 17.
Summer hours will start Monday, May 18.

Update your retirement system contact information
Life is all about change. The annual enrollment is only a few months away, and we would like to encourage all employees to update their contact information (address, phone and email) online at ERS by Friday, May 29.
By updating your information, employees will receive important annual enrollment material and information at their current address. Employees should:
1. Go to the ERS website and click on the “Access My Account” button at the top.
2. Enter username and password (or create an online account in five easy steps).
3. Click the appropriate link under “My Personal Information.”
Employees may also come by the Human Resources Department in the Austin Building, Room 201 and complete a Change of Address form.
Call for undergraduate research highlights for fall CUR Quarterly
Submissions for the "Undergraduate Research Highlights" feature of the fall 2015 issue of the Council on Undergraduate Research Quarterly on the Web are being accepted until Wednesday, June 10.
Highlights are brief descriptions of recent (past six months) peer-reviewed research or scholarly publications in scholarly journals, books and book chapters, web-based publications and juried performances. These publications must be in print and must include one or more undergraduate co-authors.
New record warrants national honors for Payne
For the second time in three weeks and the fourth time this year, SFA's Demi Payne has been named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
Payne broke her own collegiate outdoor pole vault record last Friday at the Southland Conference Championships in Hammond, Louisiana. After using three clean jumps at her first three bars to clinch the SLC meet record and lock up the conference individual title, Payne needed just two jumps to clear 15 feet, 5.5 inches (4.71m) and break her own collegiate mark.
Conque announces 2015 spring awards
With the spring semester wrapping up this week, SFA head football coach Clint Conque has announced his off-season and on-field awards for the 2015 spring season. This is the second year Conque has presented the awards.
"We had a very productive off-season and spring season with a large number of players stepping up and improving," Conque said. "Last year was the first year we instituted these awards and it was very well received by our players. This year we carried the momentum from last year into the spring season and hope to build on that as we move into the fall."
SFA's A Cappella Choir invited to perform at Vatican, St. Mark's Basilica
The SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music have announced the SFA A Cappella Choir will travel to Italy next May for an 11-day performance tour that includes special invitations to sing at the Vatican and St. Mark's Basilica.
"SFA has grand tradition in choral singing and vocal pedagogy, and our talented singers deserve a place on the world's stage," said Dr. Manny Brand, director of the SFA School of Music. "This performance tour will highlight to European audiences our students' artistry and SFA's musical excellence."
Family, friends and music patrons are invited to accompany the 52-member A Cappella Choir and support faculty on the trip from May 22 through June 2, according to Tim King, director of choral activities at SFA.
