Two faculty members co-authored article

Drs. Raul F. Prezas, associate professor in Human Services, and Paul R. Shockley, lecturer in the Division of Multidisciplinary Programs, co-authored an article, “Honoring All Perspectives in Ethical Challenges: A Practical Method for Preserving Human Dignity in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Cases,” in the Texas Speech Language Hearing Association’s Communicologist publication.

Center for Digital Scholarship to hold open access and predatory publishers workshop

Discussions about legitimate open access publishers versus predatory publishers are taking place on university campuses across the country with articles appearing in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Times Higher Education and other academic publications.

To address the concerns and questions many faculty members have on this topic, SFA’s Center for Digital Scholarship will host the workshop “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing: Open Access and Predatory Publishers.” From 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, and Wednesday, April 11, in the Steen Library Wyatt Room.

Phil Reynolds, scholarly communications librarian, will draw clear distinctions between legitimate OA publishers and publications and predatory publishers. Time can be tricky, but when writing time in Associated Press Style, one should always lowercase and use periods for “a.m.” and “p.m.”

Also, we use noon and midnight to avoid confusion.
