Breakfast on the Farm scheduled for April 28

The Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture is hosting a free pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 28 at the Walter C. Todd Agriculture Research Center Beef Farm.

Explore the farm, see animals, take a hayride and enjoy a day of farm activities.

Tickets will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning April 9 at the Nacogdoches County Farm Bureau Office, located at 2302 NW Stallings Drive. Tickets are limited.

Counselor education program to host National Alcohol Awareness Day

SFA's counselor education program is hosting a National Alcohol Awareness Day event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, on the first floor of the Human Services Building.

National Alcohol Awareness Day is an outreach, education and screening initiative that raises awareness about harmful and dependent drinking behaviors and connects at-risk individuals with treatment options.

The event is open to all faculty, staff, students and members of the Nacogdoches community.

Planetarium to show ‘Oceans in Space’

SFA’s planetarium will show “Oceans in Space” at 7 p.m. every Friday from April 6 through May 4 in the Math Building planetarium.

Office of Multicultural Affairs to host Diversity Week

SFA’s Office of Multicultural Affairs will launch its annual Diversity Week beginning Monday, April 2. The week will feature social and educational programs that celebrate various aspects of diversity and multiculturalism through meaningful dialogue within the SFA community.
 
The Diversity Week kickoff event will feature activities that promote cultural awareness. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Baker Pattillo Student Center plaza.

SFA’s Trombone Choir performance part of international observance

SFA’s 20-piece Trombone Choir will perform a variety of music in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in Cole Concert Hall.

The performance is part of International Trombone Week in which musicians around the globe celebrate the trombone.

Senior theatre student to direct ‘Nine’

SFA’s School of Theatre will present the one-act play “Nine” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in the Downstage Theatre.

Written by Jane Shepard, “Nine” will be directed by Lewisville senior theatre major Marie Phillips. The play is about two women who are chained to a room by unseen forces. Exercise and discussing their memories help them get through the day. As they hang on to life, they explore truth, bonds and hope, according to Phillips.
