Symposium on Arts and Research scheduled for today
The Office of the Provost will host the 2018 Symposium on Arts and Research, a one-day event celebrating the research, scholarship and artistry of SFA faculty members, today. Faculty research from the past year and research in progress will be showcased.
This event will honor the symposium's Spotlight Presenters and the Office of Research and Graduate Studies' grant award recipients with an awards presentation at noon. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Counseling Services to host National Alcohol Awareness Day
Counseling Services is hosting a National Alcohol Awareness Day event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, on the first floor of the Human Services Building.
National Alcohol Awareness Day is an outreach, education and screening initiative that raises awareness about harmful and dependent drinking behaviors, and connects at-risk individuals with treatment options.
The event is open to all faculty and staff, students and members of the Nacogdoches community.
Human Resources to hold 5-4-3 to Retirement
Are you thinking about retiring within the next five years? Human Resources is holding a 5-4-3 to Retirement presentation Thursday, March 29, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Room 2.201.

James I. Perkins College of Education to host economic education training
SFA’s James I. Perkins College of Education is hosting "Show Me The Moohla!", a curriculum training on economic education, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16 and April 21.
Nancy Shepherd, director for the SFA Center of Economic Education, will present curriculum training, which will include free resources for the classroom, explanations of student programs, a resource chart for courses and a review of lesson structure. This training is intended for teacher candidates in economics, government, career and technical education, math, U.S. history and anyone teaching current events or public issues.
There will be a drawing to receive a Virtual Economics 4.5 pin drive, which contains 1,400 lessons for K through 12 economics, financial literacy and entrepreneurship courses.
Sessions on April 16 will take place in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Multimedia Room 2.106, and in the McKibben Education Building, Room 258, on April 21. Registration is due by April 9.

Concert to feature new works of Texas composers
The Texas New Music Ensemble will make its first appearance at SFA when the newly formed group performs at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in Cole Concert Hall.
The Texas New Music Ensemble is a Houston-based, mixed chamber ensemble focused solely on the work of Texas composers.
The SFA performance will feature TNME flutist Meg Griffith performing a set of intense and alluring works for flute, piccolo and electronics.

Stone Fort Wind Quintet to perform works of Beethoven, Lacerda tonight
The Stone Fort Wind Quintet at SFA will perform at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Cole Concert Hall.
The faculty recital is a feature of SFA's School of Music’s Calliope Concert Series. The quintet includes music faculty members Charles Gavin, horn; Christopher Ayer, clarinet; Kerry Hughes, oboe; Christina Guenther, flute; and Lee Goodhew, bassoon.
