SFA participates in National African-American Read-In

SFA students and faculty members recently participated in the National African-American Read-In, an event promoting diversity in children’s literature and highlighting African-American authors.

“The read-in is good for my college students to see how they can make books relevant and connect with their students through characters, authors and the storyline,” said Dr. Lauren Burrow, assistant professor in SFA’s Department of Elementary Education. “It’s also great to see the elementary students respond to the story and feel good about themselves.”

Steen Library to host faculty workshop series

The Steen Library will host a workshop about citation managers at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, in Steen Library, Room 205.

This session will include an overview of three of the most popular citation managers: RefWorks, Mendeley and Zotero. By the end of the workshop, attendees will know the advantages of using a citation manager and which of the three best meets their needs.

On Christmas Eve 1926, Wheaties aired the first commercial jingle and the brand soon became known as the “breakfast of champions.”
